Extra-Professional Service: Carolina Basset Hound Rescue
My personal interests have long included animal rescue and rehabilitation. The Carolina Basset Hound Rescue (CBHR) was introduced to me via a friend, and I instantly fell in with others concerned with the welfare of unwanted and homeless basset hounds in North and South Carolina.
Since June of 2017 I’ve served as the Transport Coordinator of the rescue, arranging (and sometimes facilitating!) rides for bassets headed to their new foster or forever homes.
Extra-Professional Service: Soy un Lider
Each year, Guilford College hosts Soy Un Lider, a conference for underrepresented high school students and their families. This conference is designed to motivate these students to apply for college. Sessions on career development, financial aid, college admissions, and much more create an experience that many students would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in.
My role in this year’s conference was to chaperone a group of students – I also assisted with an open house session where various college admissions representatives answered questions about their respective institutions.
